"COVER" VERSIONS
If you wish to release a "cover" version, then this definitely needs a special licence.For Physical Products you can apply for an MCPS Manufacturing Licence in the usual way (see above).
For Digital Products, your chosen aggregator should be able to advise you and help obtain the licence for you, otherwise there are specialist licencing companies that can assist you:-

Don't even think about releasing a track that contains uncleared samples - you're setting yourself up for a world of hurt!If you plan to use samples of other artists' work in your musical compositions, you may well need to get permission in order to avoid legal trouble.
